Dr Nia Imara is an astrophysicist who uses art to teach Black and brown children about science. She wrote "Painting the Cosmos" and started Onaketa.

Onaketa gives free STEM lessons to Black and brown kids, taught by scientists who look like them. It's important to have role models.
Science is for everyone, not just white people. Many people from around the world have helped make science what it is today.
Our solar system shows diversity is important. Each planet is different and helps keep Earth safe, teaching us to live together better.
Dr Imara loves art. She thinks art and science can work together. She helps kids see they can do both and imagine new futures.
Onaketa helps kids see themselves in science. This is important because Black and brown people are not seen much in these jobs.
