Uriah Rennie was the first Black Premier League referee. He worked on over 300 matches from 1997 to 2008. He died at 65 and was praised for his work.

Rennie, born in Jamaica, moved to Sheffield as a child. He became a referee in 1979, made history in 1997, and was a magistrate in Sheffield.
Rennie got a special award for helping sports and communities. He is now the head of Sheffield Hallam University.
